Eyes of the Underworld

About the picture: Actually I made this picture more then a year ago, but I decided to give it some better post-processing. This was photographed in an abandoned limestone quarry. The diabolo shape of the pillars is cause by the pressure from above, causing the pillars to crumble under the weight, untill they finally collaps.

Startrails at the abandoned Coal Mine

It’s been several months since I’ve photograph startrails and it was itching for a while to go outside when there was a clear night. Sadly there were always better reasons to stay inside.. Finally I had some time and could convince one of my friends to get out for some nocturnal photography. We drove to the coal mine of Heusden and decided for an industrial approach. This image is a manual blend of 100 seperate pictures at F5.6, Iso 800, […]

About The Band: Chain of Dogs is a trash folk band from Limburg (NL). If you ever wanted to find out what it would sound like if Slayer got into a fight with Flogging Molly on stage, after which they decide to patch things up with a  bottle of vodka, then you should listen to Chain of Dogs. Cave Biking

One of my friends with who I regularly explore underground with, has another awesome hobby; biking. We decided to combine both of his hobbies and organise a photoshoot. After we had selected a nice location and angle, we set up 3 strobes to illuminate both the biker and the quarry. All strobes were set on full power, the camera was set on F4.5, 1/200 sec, Iso 200.

Hoge Brug Maastricht

The “Hoge Brug” is a cyclist and pedestrian bridge in Maastricht, The Netherlands. The bridge was build in 200.3 and spans over the river ‘Meuse’. During the summer I photographed the bridge from almost exactly the same angle and the same light with pretty satisfying results. But I decided to make the shot again during the winter for the extra touch of the annual christmas light decorations.

Traffic over Tower Bridge London

The Tower Bridge in London is probably the most photographed bridge and landmark in Europe. The fact it’s one of the most recognizable national icons in the world is of course the main reason, but the architecture and location are also 2 important factors to it’s success with tourists and photographers. The riverbanks of the Thames offer from all sides a clear view on the bridge resulting in numerous interesting compositions from all different angles. That’s probably also why I […]

The Tunnel

This tunnel was constructed in the 1930’s to function as a transport tunnel for limestone. It’s 1650meters long and consist out of 2 tunnels next to each other. Nowadays the tunnel has become a popular location for underground raves.

The Nazi Tunnel

During the second world war, the German army was very interested in the underground quarries in France and the Netherlands. Many quarries were mapped and rebuild as underground factories to build airplanes or as in this case, to create V2 missiles. This long tunnel was build within an enormous quarry and was construction to function as a train tunnel for transporting the V2 missiles that would be build and stored there. However before the Germans could finish this underground factory, […]

BMW Welt in Munich

BMW World

BMW World in Munich (Germany) is the presentation en distribution centre of BMW. Being a photographer who prefers oldtimers instead of new luxurious cars, I visited this location because of the modern architecture. It was freezing whilst taking the pictures, but the snow combined with the blue hour resulted in a very interesting softer light then usual.

Centrale Thermique

Somewhere around 2008 I first attempted to visit this power plant. Back then, everything was still pretty good locked up and the only entrance point involved climbing up to the second level on an improvised ladder build out of scrap. As soon as I started climbing up, we heard some loud noises coming from the inside. We chickened out due the thought of getting confronted with some copper thieves whilst carrying several thousands of euro’s on gear with us and […]
