One of my friends with who I regularly explore underground with, has another awesome hobby; biking. We decided to combine both of his hobbies and organise a photoshoot. After we had selected a nice location and angle, we set up 3 strobes to illuminate both the biker and the quarry. All strobes were set on full power, the camera was set on F4.5, 1/200 sec, Iso 200.
This tunnel was constructed in the 1930’s to function as a transport tunnel for limestone. It’s 1650meters long and consist out of 2 tunnels next to each other. Nowadays the tunnel has become a popular location for underground raves.
Due a large amount of groundwater, this quarry has been flooded with very cold water. During a first visit we used some rubber boats to explore this part. At one of our next visits we brought some waders to take this picture. The camera was standing only a few cm above the water level, which was originally very clear. One of my friends talked me into the crazy idea of visiting some abandoned warships, about 1.000km’s from home. When I went shopping for a boat, The “Explorer Pro 200” seemed like a good choise for me. Unlike the cheaper Hello Kitty model, this vessil had enough space to transport myself AND my gear.
